September 14th

Here’s a picture of our house taken on Friday (9/12). The house is ALMOST done, they have the yard to put in out front and some minor touch up work to do inside and we’re supposed to be moving in THIS FRIDAY! WOO HOO!! (anyone want to help move friday night or saturday morning???)

We haven’t closed yet, we’re supposed to on Tuesday morning but we both have yet to get the time approved off work… the closing process has been a bit of a hassle but that’s ok, we’re just taking it as it comes and doing our best to accomodate what we need to.

We’ve been married for almost 2 months now and we’re still waiting to start our life together. We’ve been doing well since returning from the honeymoon, spent some of our time at my parents house and some at his moms house and a lot of time house sitting for friends and strangers who have been on vacation. We’re both working full time (though i’m only “on call” so it’s not guaranteed except for the next 5 weeks) and are busy most weeknights as well. Between both of our accountability partners we meet with, bible study, drill at the fire department for me, Bo working on various computers for a ton of people, we both get home pretty late after work and are exhausted at the end of the day. At least after this week we’ll actually have our own “home” to rest in. I’m really looking forward to not living out of a suitcase anymore and packing around my shower bag with me wherever I go. It’s actually been quite a long time since I’ve had a home.

Anyways, that’s all for now. Just wanted to update you. Quadrant did great with our house, they have a 54 day schedule they work on from start to finish and they haven’t missed a beat with our house, it’s going to close EXACTLY 54 days from day 1 as long as all goes well with the paperwork. It’s been a pretty amazing process to watch.

I’ll try to write more soon.

Warmly,
Bo & Kari

The latest…

Well not too much has gone on since we returned home from our honeymoon. Bo went back to work full time the week after we got home and I finally got a job that I started this Monday. I will be a medical receptionist for a local medical clinic working in the pediatrics unit, ENT and the family practice offices. I’m enjoying it so far but it’s only been training. I’m looking forward to making money again and having contact with so many people each day. Plus it’s Mon-Fri from 8-5 so it’s not like shift work, no nights, holidays, weekends, etc. It’s an “on call” position but they give 2 weeks scheduling notice and say they work their on call’s as much as they want to be worked so I’m hoping I can get at least 4 days per week to help out with the bills. My goal is to get either a permanent part time or full time position so I can get benefits as well and not have to pay out of pocket for them.

We have been staying with my parents while we wait for our house to finish which is coming along very well. We just found out we have to go through the entire loan process again though since we’re both at new jobs since we qualified the first time. We’re bringing in a lot more money than we were last time which is great, but I don’t have any proof of that yet since I haven’t been paid yet and won’t receive a paycheck until after we’re supposed to have all of our paperwork turned in so we’re praying that won’t cause any hiccups with the closing process.

We’re house sitting for some friends now and having a great time being out on our own and only having to be considerate of each other. ha. We get to go camping with some friends this weekend which we’re really looking forward to as well, we’ve only been camping together once so far.

I JUST finished the thank you notes for the wedding (I THINK) so I’m really excited about that, it’s been quite a project because we have so many people to thank. I believe we kept good records of everything so I’m praying I didn’t miss anything going through it all.

That’s about it for now.

More Honeymoon Pictures

Here are the professional pictures we purchased while on the cruise ship.
I just got the chance to get them scanned. Hope you enjoy them!

And 1 more my mom took after we got home… celebrating being back home with our leftover sparkling cider from the wedding!

Wedding Pictures !!!

Here are just a FEW of our wedding photos. We have about 600 total and they are all amazing! Everything was perfect, the pastor had a wonderful ceremony, 2 of our friends read scripture, 2 other friends sang songs, we lit the unity candle, took communion and praised Jesus for the covenant of marriage. I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding, we’re so blessed and thankful for how the day went, our honeymoon and our lives together so far.
We got married July 19th at Lake Sawyer Christian Church in Black Diamond where we’ve been members for a few years. It was perfect. We left for our honeymoon from the reception that night to catch a red eye flight to New York to board our cruise ship which left the following afternoon. The cruise ship departed from New York on July 20th and we cruised to the Eastern Caribbean for 8 days. We returned to New York on July 28th and stayed in Times Square until July 31st in a lovely hotel. We returned home late the night of July 31st and have been recovering from our honeymoon ever since. We’re staying at my parents house right now as our house isn’t scheduled to be complete until September 19th but we’ve got 4 weeks of house sitting to do from now until then so hopefully it will go quickly.
Bo went back to work on Monday (today) and I start my new job in 2 weeks. That gives me 2 weeks to get the thank you cards all completed and sent out. We honestly have so much to say to people and so many thanks to give it seems like an insurmountable task right now but even if i can complete just a few per day we’ll get the job done. There are just so many thanks to give and so many personal things i want to say to people it may take me a while. Please forgive me for the time it may take to get all the thank you’s out. I’ll blog again soon with more stories and pictures, i just wanted to give you a small glimpse of our wedding day here. We hope you enjoy the pictures! There will be more loaded somewhere sometime, we’ll let you know when!

Still Honeymooning…

Hello! We’re still on our honeymoon and having a BLAST! We left from the wedding reception last saturday the 19th to the airport and caught a red eye flight to New York. We arrived in New York at 6am Sunday morning and went to the cruise terminal to see how early we could get on the ship. We finally got on at about noon. We were TIRED. Our suite was fantastic, huge and comfortable, lots of room, a nice bathroom, lots of storage space so we unpacked everything, showered and took a nap! We cruised from New York to San Juan Puerto Rico, St Thomas and Grand Turk. We got off the ship at every port to have some land time and play. We walked all around San Juan and went to Senor Frogs and a casino then got back on the ship, at St Thomas we went Snuba diving which is similar to Scuba diving but you’re attached to an air tank that floats on the surface and you can go 30-40′ below water. We had a blast walking around on the ocean floor in a coral reef looking at all the little critters that live down there. We went deep sea fishing at Grand Turk and everyone on the boat made a catch that day! We’ve had so much fun, it’s sad to think it will be coming to an end soon.

We’re now back in New York until Thursday. The Westin Hotel is beautiful and our room is so comfortable. We’re going to walk around town tonight (we’re IN Times Square) then tomorrow we’re going to a show on Broadway and Wednesday we’re heading out to Staten Island for Dominic’s Pizza and to visit Bo’s friends that live out there. I’ll get to try Porgies for the first time ever also….

We come home Thursday evening and have the weekend to recuperate from all our vacationing. We will need a vacation from our vacation just to catch back up!

We haven’t seen any wedding pictures yet (except the 1 world race one posted on facebook) and we can’t wait to see them but that means i don’t have any to post here yet. Hopefully we’ll get the pictures this weekend after we get home.

Here are just a few of our honeymoon pictures you can see now though.

Much love!
Bo and Kari

little blessings

Well…. we have 1 day left to prepare before our wedding and leaving for our 2 week honeymoon. About the only thing i can say now is AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Everything is going SO well and the pieces are falling into place and people are offering to help, it’s just great, but it’s also just a HUGE stress to plan every last detail of a wedding and prepare for the honeymoon as well.

We’ve been blessed every step of the way though. With plans, travel arrangements, help from family and friends, our travel agent, finances, Bo’s job, our house, or real estate agent… there are so many things. I feel like God just keeps dropping me little blessings every time I turn around to make things easier or relieve some stress.

Last night Bo and I went to our small group bible study but there was no study, they threw us a surprise wedding shower! We sat around and ate cake, opened presents, talked about Bo and I then they all laid their hands on us and prayed for us. It was a sense of community I don’t think I’ve felt much since the race and it was so awesome! We had no idea, it was a complete surprise and our whole entire group came around us, shared wisdom, listened to us and prayed for us, it just doesn’t get any better than that.

So I keep stressing and God keeps giving bits and pieces of strength, encouragement and peace everyday. I THINK we’re ready… I’m sure there’s plenty that I’m forgetting but maybe I’ll just never remember so I won’t know that I forgot it!

I got a job, well 2 actually. They are both my backup plans. I’m in the process for another job that I would really love to get and is my main goal so please keep that in your prayers. I don’t think I’ll get the chance to interview with them before we leave but hopefully SOON after we get back home so I can turn down the other 2 jobs if I do get this one. So that’s great news, I have 2 jobs available one of which I will take if this other job doesn’t come through. Our house is moving along great, more is done everyday and I haven’t even been by for 4-5 days to see it.

My family is well, dad is still doing good, mom is recovering from a kidney infection which was bad. She was VERY sick last week and in bed from about Thursday until Wednesday or so but she’s up and about now, feeling better just a bit weak from being so sick but recovering well.

Bo’s grandma is sick, please keep her in your prayers, we don’t think she will be able to make it to the wedding because of it so that’s a big bummer.

That’s all I can think of right now. I need to go get some work done, laundry done, packing done, financial organization done, preparing done then go to the salon and get my fingers and toes done!

I’m not sure when I will post again, we won’t be home until late July 31st so it may be a few weeks. Thanks for reading this and keeping us in your prayers! I’ll post pictures as SOON as i can!

Love,
Bo and Kari

7th of July

Well good news and bad news. They started building the frame of our house on the 7th of July and they’ve already got over 1/2 the house up! Pretty amazing to see the progress going that quickly on the house! We’re getting SO excited!

That was the good news. The bad news… my last job lead turned me down. Sad. It’s a long story but it was kind of a depressing letdown. On the flipside of that, God closed that door but of course opened another door for me to go through. I applied for 2 positions at a medical clinic late Monday night online and received a call at 8:30am on Tuesday morning asking for an interview. It would be a job i’d really enjoy, get my foot in the door for the medical field and pay OK and it’s not full time BUT i don’t think i’d have benefits with it and i need benefits and it’s an on call position. She said they generally work their on call workers 16-24 hours per week which would be perfect, that’s exactly what i need but it would be tough to not plan anything in my life in hopes of being called in to work. I also sent my resume in to the recruiter at the Christian organization where Bo is now working and apparently they raved over my resume and said they want me. They’re not sure what for yet but they want me based on my resume. I’m not sure what i would be doing there, how much i’d get paid, how many hours, etc but that could be a promising lead as well. Another friend of me tonight let me know that a local 911 dispatch agency that i called a couple weeks ago who had JUST hired someone is now desperate for another dispatcher. I’m not sure what happened but that’s another possible door for me though it means working shift work again which includes nights, weekends and holiddays. I haven’t applied for that one yet but I probably will soon because i need to get something SOON. So i have 3 potential job opportunities now. Please keep that in your prayers.

And 1 other interesting tidbit…. I withdrew $1000.00 from my savings account for Bo and I to have spending cash on our honeymoon. I requested that on Sunday (online). I received it on Monday in the mail in addition to an $850.00 hospital bill from when i was in the hospital back in February! UGH… So i decided the better thing would be to pay the $850.00 bill with the honeymoon cash money and use the rest for the honeymoon. Well God of course has a sense of humor because when i went and checked the mail today, i got another medical bill for $150.00. Perfect huh? I had taken out EXACTLY the amount of the total of both bills that arrived in the mail the next 2 days. It sucks that it happened and ALL of our spending cash we had planned on is now gone, BUT i’m SOOOO thankful that i had the money there already and was able to pay the bills since i don’t have much of an income now. God works in amazing ways…. He creates some pretty miraculous coincidences from the small things like providing EXACTLY the amount of money needed to pay unsuspecting medical bills to the larger things like perfectly creating the universe in a way we could live in it. He’s a pretty amazing God and never ceases to amaze me in new ways every day.

5th of July

On the 5th of July, Bo’s friends had 2 extra tickets to the mariners game so we bought our peanuts and headed out! We got free parking a few blocks from the stadium (saved $25 from parking in the parking garage) and headed in. I had
peanuts because that’s my MUST have for a mariners game, Bo brought his sunflower seeds then we got there and smelled the garlic fries and of course couldn’t resist. We’re both begging to gain more weight and have a heart attack at a young age so we got some. YUM! It was even worth it later AND the next day when we were still feeling the effects of the fries. hahaha. Mariners won! WOO HOO!
